Our Activities Committee is dedicated to nurturing a vibrant and engaged community. By organizing events and initiatives that bring neighbors together, we aim to foster connection, celebrate togetherness, and create memorable experiences that go beyond the traditional HOA expectations.

🎉 2026 Block Party
UPDATE! Due to weather, the block party is being pushed to the following day, Sunday August 2.
🗓️ Sun Aug 2, 2026
🕥 3-9 pm setup 9a - 3p
📍 Mira St bw Talismon & Carmella
The Walkup Block Party is officially back for year two! Last year, over 125 neighbors joined us, and we are hoping for an even bigger turnout this Sunday. Come join your neighbors for an afternoon of fun, food, music, and celebrating everything that makes our community so great.
Special Highlights & Schedule
In addition to the all-day awesomeness, we have a few special surprises in the works (with varying degrees of certainty):
-
The Mayor of Crystal Lake - While not guaranteed, there is a very good chance Mayor Haig Haleblian will be stopping by to say hello to the neighborhood! If he makes it, expect him early in the party window, around 3-4pm.
-
Fire Truck✅ Confirmed 330-430pm. Just like last year, we'll have a fire truck and/or police cars stop by so the kids can meet our local first responders and explore the vehicles.
-
Balloon Creations by RC Juggles
✅ Confirmed 4-5pm. The Crystal Lake Farmer’s Market favorite will be joining us to make amazing balloon creations for the kids! -
Ice Cream Truck: We expect an ice cream truck to roll through! Exact time is tbd.
What to Expect
-
The Vibe: We’ll have family-friendly music playing, games like cornhole and giant Jenga, and activity stations for the kids (temporary tattoos, giant bubbles, bead jewelry, wooden trains, etc). Plus, plenty of shaded space to just relax and catch up with neighbors.
-
Food & Drink: This is a potluck-style event, generously provided by homeowners. We'll have burgers, hot dogs, chili, pasta, desserts, and more! Note: Alcohol will not be served.
-
What to Bring: We’ll have some seating, but please bring your own chairs for guaranteed comfort.
-
Pets: Furry friends are welcome as long as they are leashed, well-behaved, and comfortable in crowds.
-
Logistics: The street will be fully closed to traffic. No public restrooms are provided, but it’s a quick walk home if needed.
Contribute to the Fun
We are so grateful for everyone's support and contributions! We are in great shape for Sunday, but we could still use a little extra help to make the day perfect:
-
Setup & Takedown: We will be setting up the street from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Feel free to just walk over during that time to lend a hand, or stick around at 9:00 PM to help us clean up.
-
Supplies: We are still looking to borrow a few extra tables, pop-up tents, coolers.
-
Food & Activities: We will gladly accept any additional side dishes, main courses, drinks (water, soda, juice), or fun games/activities you'd like to share! (No pressure to provide for everyone).
Want to help? Reach out to walkuphoa@gmail.com and let us know what you can bring, or simply stop by during the 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM setup window to ask how you can pitch in!

Stay in the Loop
Our website is always kept up to date with the latest walk-up activities.
In addition to website updates, we also send out a recurring email newsletter packed with Association news and activity details. Aren't receiving the newsletter? Here is how to fix it:
-
Check your Spam/Junk folder: Sometimes our emails get filtered out by mistake.
-
Contact Management: If you still don't see it, please reach out to our Foster Premier Property Manager, Eric Wojnicki, at ewojnicki@fosterpremier.com. Foster Premier manages our distribution list and will ensure you get signed up!

Get Involved
Donations & Contributions
Great neighborhood gatherings start with big ideas, but making them happen takes a little extra. If you’re able, contributing—whether financially, with needed supplies, or with a business sponsorship—will turn plans into reality and help us create even more memorable experiences for everyone.
If you're interested, just email the HOA board at walkuphoa@gmail.com.
Activities Committee
The newly-created Activities Committee is a group of volunteers in our community that are a part of, contribute to, and influence the HOA activities.
While we hope for as much engagement and collaboration as possible, being on the committee carries no commitment or direct responsibility. You can join and be selective about when, and how deeply, you engage or help.
If you're interested in joining, email The Board at walkuphoa@gmail.com. You'll be included in future comms and conversations as the activities are discussed and planned.
